About the History and Images Index
The History and Images Index is a topical oriented index: overlappings
and intersections with other indexes are distinctive features of this index. For
this reason a list of related
VL sites whose field of interest lies besides ours has been made.
History and Images Index does not provide virtual resources on the
moving image (there will be soon a dedicated site in the VL project) and
with sites whose fields are already covered by others VL sites as for example:
art history and archaeology, I advice those interested in these
aspects of research to go to the relevant sites of the VL project.
History and Images Index does mainly deal with still images.
You will find Virtual Resources dealing with the various genres, techniques, their
history, their role and use as historical source.
A specification Linksite has been added whenever a
site provides more than ten links.
The History and Images Index is made of different pages which are always
under construction. If the descriptions of the resource are not in English, this
can be taken as indicating that no English equivalent of the pages is available.
The URL of this page is [../hist-images/index.html].
The History and Images Index is a joint project between the European
University Institute's Library and History
& Civilisation Department .
The History and Images Index was created in November 2000
Last updated the 27th
of October 2003.
