- Directory of Russian Periodicals Online: Subject-based listing of online periodicals, some of which are free and some of which require a paid subscription.
- Fond "Obschestvennoe mnenie" (the Public Opinion Foundation): The Public Opinion Foundation was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization for conducting public opinion surveys in Russia. The Foundation conducts its own regular political and sociological studies, as well as custom-designed research on such issues as media audiences, perceptions of advertising, consumer behavior, potential demand, and so on.
- Informika: State Institute of Information and Technologies.
- ITAR-TASS: Successor to the Soviet TASS, ITAR-TASS is the largest news agency in Russia. In addition to current news, ITAR-TASS also offers access to pictures of the latest breaking developments.
- Information agency "Kultura": The most appropriate net agency, dealing with current events of Russian cultural life.
- Integrum World Wide: IWW is the US-Russia information agency wich provides on-line information service in Russia and the former USSR countries, doing the global monitoring of the CIS political, social and economical information. Integrum immediately gives you any newspaper/magazine article or a governmental/legislative/statistical document relevant to your search query.
The system could be a useful tool in the professional research. In the recent time several databases relevanat to defence research were included. Among them the archives of VIMI - a Federal Informational and Analytical Center of the Defence Industry.
- List of Russian Periodicals:Excellent list from the Novosibirsk State Regional Library.
- Natsionalnaia Sluzhba Novostei (National News Service): Provides a valuable collection of the most recent news, interviews and reviews of national, regional, and international media sources. It also includes the National Electronic Library (Natsionalnaia Elektronnaia Biblioteka), the largest electronic archive of the Russian media. (only in Russian).
- Periodika: List of Russian journals and newspapers from the University of Basel. Periodicals from other slavic countries are also available on this site.
- 2001 Periodicals Catalog: This periodicals catalog from Panorama of Russia publishing house contains journals and newspapers from the Russian Federation, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrghyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. Titles are
listed in their native language, and transliterated according to the Library of Congress cataloging system.
- RIA News Online: This is a news site of the Russian Information Agency Vesti. (Russian only).
- Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Newsline : Formerly Radio Free Europe, this site provides daily reports on current events and political developments in the former Soviet Union. Reports are also available through e-mail subscription.
- Radio Svoboda/Radio Liberty
- Russian Media: Newspapers, Radiostations, TV channels, News agencies.
- Russian Newspapers and Journals on the Internet: This site includes a comprehensive list of Russian newspapers and journals. (this site is in Russian but there is the possibility to switch to an English version at "Friends and Partners"homepage).
- Vesti: For those who have a broadband connection to the Internet (DSL,
Cable, Wireless) the daily news reports of Vesti on RTR are highly recommended.
- Voice of Russia: The Voice of Russia is a state radio company that has been broadcasting in foreign languages since October 29, 1929. Here one can find the information about the last events and news and also the Russian Culture Navigator, which is highly recommended for those, who are going to Russian province.
Electronic mass-media
- Gazeta.RU: All kind of news from Russia available both in Russian and English.
- Lenta.Ru.: The site is relatively new but it is one of the most comprehensive and informative news sites on the Internet. It includes access to constantly updated full-text news from various Russian, independent, and international information agencies.
Note that it is founded by the Kremlin-controlled Fond Effektivnoi Politiki (Foundation for Efficient Policy).
- Polit.ru: Polit.ru is an online informational political channel.
- Russia Today: This site provides news, reports, as well as daily translations of selected Russian newspapers.
- Russian News from Eurasia Research Center. Gives the latest news taken from different Russian and other sources and provides access to selected Russian newspapers and journals.
- Strana.ru: The National Information service, controlled by the Fund for Efficient Policy (see above) together with vesti.ru, pravda.ru, gazeta.ru and dealine.ru.
- Zhurnal.ru: The newsletter of the net and real contemporary Russian culture, contained the information on cinema, literature, music, entertainment, etc.
"Thematical" publications
- Demoscope Weekly: A web-newspaper published by the Center for Demography and Human Ecology of the Institute for Economic Forecasting (Russian Academy of Sciences). It's in Russian.
Russian Art Periodicals On Line
- ARTchronica: Nice, full of information, images and ads bilingual edition. It unites the new economy and art life in Russia.
- ARTLIFE.ru:ARTLife.ru is an art-information trade portal composed of two parts ARTMall and ARTNews.
- Khudozhestvenny zhurnal - Moscow Art Magazine: The only high quality Russian edition on contemporary art, edited and published by prominent enthusiast Viktor Misiano. It comprises the last update information on process in Russian contemporary art (Russian version). Hosted by Guelman site.
- Maksimka: An art magazine representing St.Petersburg contemporary art and arguing on central points for contemporary art in general. The purpose is to provide quality criticism as well as to follow current art life in Petersburg and in a broader context. Hosted by Guelman site.
- Novy Vernisazh:On-line magazine, dedicated to contemporary visual and applied arts.
- Pinakotheke:The Russian magazine for connoisseurs and art admirers. The information is on art history, attributions, commentary, discoveries, articles, art collecting, art market, current information, exhibition reviews, new publications, sales reviews, calendar of important events, art and crime,

- Project Russia: Journal on architecture, design, urbanism and technology
