Palazzo Benini, Via Muzzi 38, I - 59100 PRATO - Tel. 0574 604187 - Fax 0574 604297 - email: datini@istitutodatini.it. "The "F. Datini" International Institute of Economic History was founded in 1967 by Federigo Melis, and Fernand Braudel, in collaboration with much important scholars, who formed the first Scientific Committee. The Institute studies the economic history in pre-industrial age (XIIIth-XVIIIth centuries). Its proposed aim was that of creating space for historical culture on an international scale, rendering comparison between different methodologies and schools of research easier, and supporting young scholats during their formative years. From the date of its foundation the Institute has served as a fundamental point of reference for a positive eschange of experiences and for the realisation and cultivation of scientific contact between historical environments in the West and those in Eastern countries. The entire responsibility for the Institute's scientific activity is borne by a prestigious Scientific Committee. In the Institute's management participate the public organisations and institutes in both the city of Prato and the rest of Tuscany, and he is supported by the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental property, by the C.N.R. (National Research Council) and by the private organisations and individuals. " The Institute's Library is offering an online access to the TOC's of Italian scientific journals and, in general, an electronic version of historical writings and essays related to the activities of the Institution.
